KURZ LABEL WEEKS: In-house trade fair presents highlights and innovations for the label and packaging industry

Fürth/Germany, May 12, 2022: What lies ahead for efficient and sustainable surface finishing? This summer, label and packaging manufacturers can learn about future trends and innovative technologies. From June 20, 2022, to October 28, 2022, LEONHARD KURZ is hosting the KURZ LABEL WEEKS on the premises of the company’s Fürth headquarters. The theme is ‘Engineering the Future of Embellishment.’ With its in-house trade fair, the manufacturer of decorative and functional coatings as well as related machine systems would like to give its customers, suppliers, and partners as well as all interested parties and press representatives, the opportunity to discover new machines, pioneering processes, and sustainable solutions on site. “After two and a half years without personal contact, it’s important to us to make it possible to experience the possibilities in the field of finishing up close again and to clarify questions in direct dialog - for example, on complex topics such as sustainability, especially in the field of packaging and label design,” says Stéphane Royère, Head of the KURZ Packaging and Print Business Area, about the large-scale event. With the KURZ LABEL WEEKS, the international thin-film specialist not only showcases its expertise as a machine manufacturer, but also impresses as a provider of holistic finishing solutions.

On an area of more than 400 square meters, KURZ is presenting innovative solutions for surface finishing in the label and packaging sector, as well as an extensive selection of machines. Sustainability also plays a key role at the event - related content and initiatives will be presented in a separate area in Fürth. Visitors can not only take part in the general demonstrations, but also send in their individual data in advance if necessary, so that their own products can be finished live using the machines displayed at the trade fair.

Extensive insights into the range and service portfolio

Visitors to the KURZ LABEL WEEKS can see various machines from the fields of hot stamping, cold transfer, and digital printing in action. These include flexo printing systems with the DISTORUN® single-image and material-saving module, the latest digital finishing systems KURZ DM-UNILINER 2D and DM-UNILINER 3D from KURZ subsidiary Steinemann DPE, as well as digital printing technology from KURZ subsidiary MPRINT with the MJET eco and Monojet® 324 modules. Offset printing live demos with a cold transfer module as well as hot stamping on the GIETZ FSA 1060 Foil Commander round out the comprehensive trade fair concept. From delicate lettering to full-surface decorations and haptic 3D effects, visitors will be shown a variety of finishing options for labels. Furthermore, the company is also demonstrating its forward-looking approach with brand-new and unique products such as the hot-stamping quality ECOFIN®, which requires only a 10 μm carrier instead of a 12 μm carrier, enabling sustainable and economical work. But research and development at KURZ goes even further: With the cold transfer decoration KPS slim (patent pending) for sheet metal and KPW slim (patent pending) for roller applications, the company opens up a completely new perspective in finishing: With an unbelievably thin carrier of only 6 μm, not only are significant material savings possible, but it also brings about significant time and cost savings for the processor. The trade fair will also present the new security solutions that KURZ is developing in cooperation with its subsidiary SCRIBOS - for example, security labels with multi-level encryption algorithms that not only effectively combat counterfeiting, gray market activities, and overproduction, but also open up new possibilities for customer interaction. The Digital Product Passport will be presented in cooperation with KURZ Digital Solutions. The thermal transfer division will also have its own section at the trade fair. This will demonstrate how the innovative thermal transfer and coding films - for example, for the medical, pharmaceutical, and food industries - enable secure and reliable product identification: From classic black ribbons to customer-specific special colors and security solutions for commercially available label printers.
